Step 1. Determine the size you would like to make you skate ramp. The ability of your kids will have a part to play here.

Step 2. Draw the shape of your ramp. First lets start with making the structural component from 30mm ply sheets. We will call this our bearer. Once you have worked out the overall length and height of the ramp, we will draw the shape of our skate ramp onto the ply.

Step 3. Cut your bearer. Once you’re happy with the shape of your bearer, cut it out using your jigsaw or circular saw if you have one. Use safety glasses.

Step 4. Trace remaining bearers. Use this bearer as a template to trace the remaining bearers. Trace the shape of this onto our sheet of ply and cut as many as required. For this size, we recommend 2 more. If you wanted your ramp wider you can just cut extra bearers.

Step 5. Cut out the hand grips. On the 2 outside bearers, cut a small section out with the jig saw for a hand grip. Tip: Drill a small hole so you can start your jig saw blade.

Step 6. Cut the noggins. Using some off cuts of ply, cut some noggins at the same height as your ramp using your circular saw. You will need 2 at either end so cut 4.

Step 7. Fix it all together. Apply Selleys Liquid Nails Original to the ends of your noggins and place against the inside of the bearer. Screw fix in place with screws. Tip: pre-drill the bearers first to help guide the screw.

Step 8. Cut the top. Cut the 8mm ply sheet to the length and width of the skate ramp using your circular saw. This will cover the top of the ramp!

Step 9. Mark up the screw lines. Mark up some screws lines on your ply so you know the screws will land on the bearers. Simply measure up and mark a line using straight edge.

Step 10. Join the top to the bearers. Apply Selleys Liquid Nails Original the tops of our bearers to ensure the bond is gap free. Lay the first sheet of ply on top of the bearers and start to screw down. Working your way from one end to the other.

Step 11. Sand lightly. Give a light sand to get rid of any splintery ends. For the final touch, give it some character with a pop of colour!
